Corcova Roy & Dâmboviceanu

The Corcova Winery is located in South-Western Romania in the Mehedinţi DOC region.

The history of the place dates back to two millennia or more, but the golden age of Corcova’s reputation for fine wines begins at the start of the 20th century. Under the care of the Bibescu family, Corcova wines were celebrated by Parisian artists. Among them, Marcel Proust may have been the most famous.

Established in 2005, with vineyards sprawling across 60 hectares, Corcova successfully combined the Romanian terroir with the potential of important French grape varieties. The one exception, Fetească Neagră is a local variety which produces a fruity red wine with persistent aromas of prunes, black currants, blackberries, and spices.

By restoring the old cellars which once belonged to Anton Bibescu, organizing generous tastings and hosting themed and special events, Corcova Winery revives a beautiful part of the wine tradition from the Mehedinţi DOC region.
