Located in the Southern Part of Romania, Viile Metamorfosis is the producer that symbolizes that the wines from Dealu Mare DOC can be considered the Romanian version of the wines from Tuscany. The comparison in not exaggerated, taking into consideration that both regions have an excellent terroir for growing red grape varieties. And specifically, the extraordinary potential of the Dealu Mare DOC convinced the legendary Marquis Piero Antinori to invest in 100 hectares of grapevines in the village of Vadu Săpat. And the 600 years of wine experience of the Antinory family helped to choose the best area, the best grape varieties, and also the most dedicated people.
From the beginning, the winery’s philosophy was the “metamorphosis” of the Romanian vines and wines, by making wines that will render the typicity of the region, and the full potential of the planted varieties. Maybe even creating the first “super-Romanian” wine, after the “super-Tuscan” model made at the Antinori Winery in Italy. The famous Tignanello!
Viile Metamorfosis enchants with fresh and elegant aromatic white wines as those made from Muscat Ottonel and Tămâioasă Românească, as well as the young and fresh wines made of Fetească Albă and Sauvignon Blanc. They also produce rosé wines with a delicate body and intense flavors, or velvety, full-bodied red wines obtained from Cabernet Sauvignon or Fetească Neagră.
The biggest surprise of the winery was planting, for the very first time, the Negru of Drăgăşani grape variety. It was a very inspired experiment, with excellent results in terms of wine quality, which had a great feedback from the local market.
Through their wines, Vitis Metamorfosis contributes in consolidating Dealu Mare DOC’s reputation for its excellent potential in establishing new traditions in winemaking.
