The Oprişor Winery is a producer from Mehedinţi County in Southwestern Romania. It is also classified as Dealurile Olteniei GI (Geographical Indication), consisting of all of five counties of Oltenia. This type of classification involves less “rigid” regulation about the production process, which often can be an asset for the winemaker.
The vineyard represents an investment of the German group Reh Kendermann Gmbh. Founded in 1994, the Oprişor Winery covers 252 hectares and its success derives from the rigorous mentality of German engineering and the playful, folk spirit of Oltenia.
Oprişor wines accommodate a range of tastes and preferences, but the high-end collections like Smerenie, Passarowitz or Ispita are true liquid masterpieces, through the quality of wine and label.
Oprişor wines are also known for permitting one a taste and glimpse of the fairytale realm of “Profound Oltenia” – by intermingling the pagan myths of Pasărea Măiastră, Caloian or Rusalcă with the Christian traditions.
